FEATURED STORY 🔥

Air Canada to Refund Passenger Misled by Chatbot

Jake Moffatt, who sought a bereavement fare for a flight from Vancouver to Toronto, was misled by Air Canada's chatbot, which inaccurately advised him to book a flight and seek a refund later.

Contrary to the chatbot's guidance, Air Canada's policy does not allow for post-booking bereavement fare refunds. After his refund request was denied, Moffatt pursued the issue for months and eventually brought a small claims case to Canada's Civil Resolution Tribunal. The tribunal ruled in Moffatt's favor, finding Air Canada responsible for the chatbot's misinformation and ordering the airline to refund $650.88 CAD of the $1,640.36 CAD fare, plus additional damages.

Air Canada has agreed to comply with the ruling. The chatbot service was not available on Air Canada's website following the incident, and the airline has not confirmed whether it has been permanently disabled.

AI Business Idea Of The Week 📷️

Some readers may already know, but as well as running this newsletter, I also run an AI-assisted SEO content marketing agency: The Content Machine. Over the next 4 weeks, we will take a glance at how I am using AI and automation tools to create awesome SEO-optimized content - and how you could use the same idea to create your own content business.

Part 1 of 4: Mini series on how I am automating my AI content production

WHAT IS AI AUTOMATION?

I recently came across an amazing tool called Moonlit Platforms. This tool has enabled me to automate 90% of my content process.

Essentially it's a platform that allows you to create 3 elements:

1. An input - This can be text, a number, or an upload (doc, csv, pdf).

2. A function - There are a ton of functions. The main one I use is called "Chat Model" which allows you to take your input from 1. and dynamically insert it into an AI chat. There are several LLM models to choose from including GPT-3, GPT-4, Mixstral, Gemini, and LLaMa-2. There are other cool functions such as "Scrape Webpage" that can return either the full text, a summary, or the full HTML from a specific URL.

3. An output - This is where the output from your functions is displayed. They can be text based, chart based, image based or HTML based.

The Moonlit Platform Interface

My favorite part of the tool though - the ability to chain together multiple functions. Over the next few weeks I'll be diving into more about how I chain together my article outline/brief and the actual content creation - but think about it this way. You could chain together the following:

1. User enters 5 URLs via a text input.
2. The first function scrapes each URL and returns the HTML.
3. This output is passed to a Chat Model that extracts all the headings. Removes duplicates and orders the remaining into a logical fashion.
4. This is then output as text.

You have a simple app now that can scrape 5 competitor URLs, remove all the duplicate headers, and give you the foundation to build an article outline.

Next week I will cover MY personal content brief automation process.
