FEATURED STORY 🔥
London School Pioneers AI-Taught GCSE Class
Students at David Game College in London will soon experience the UK's first "teacherless" GCSE class. Starting September, 20 students will learn using AI platforms and virtual reality headsets instead of human teachers.
The AI adapts lesson plans based on each student's strengths and weaknesses, providing personalized learning experiences. Co-principal John Dalton believes AI can pinpoint learning issues more effectively than human teachers. The course costs £27,000 per year.
While students won't be entirely unsupervised, three "learning coaches" will be present to monitor behavior and teach subjects AI struggles with, like art and sex education. Supporters argue this approach offers precise, tailored education. However, critics like Chris McGovern, a retired head teacher, warn of a "soulless, bleak future" if AI replaces human teachers entirely. The government is also exploring AI's potential in education, recently announcing a project to help teachers use AI for marking and lesson planning.
