Figure Unveils AI-Powered Humanoid Robot

Figure has introduced its first humanoid robot, Figure 01, which can converse in real-time using OpenAI's generative AI.

The video shows the robot performing tasks and talking with Figure's Senior AI Engineer, Corey Lynch, in a kitchen setup. Figure 01 demonstrated its ability to identify objects, collect trash, and respond to questions while multitasking.

The robot uses multimodal AI to process visual and auditory data, enabling it to describe its environment, plan actions, and verbally explain its reasoning. It operates autonomously, learning behaviors and executing commands without remote control. Figure 01 can interpret vague commands and apply 'common sense' in its actions, such as offering an apple when someone mentions hunger.

Lynch highlighted that the robot's responses and actions are based on a history of interactions and visual cues, processed by a large AI model.
